Biko, Stephen
(18 dic. 1946, King William's Town, Sudáfrica–12 sep. 1977, Pretoria).

Activista político sudafricano. Ex estudiante de medicina, en 1968 fundó el movimiento Conciencia Negra, creado para concienciar a los negros acerca de la opresión del apartheid. Fue oficialmente "proscrito por el gobierno sudafricano en 1973 y arrestado varias veces en 1976–77. Su muerte, provocada por lesiones en la cabeza sufridas estando bajo custodia policial, lo convirtió en un mártir de carácter internacional para el nacionalismo negro sudafricano. La investigación inicial absolvió de toda culpa a la policía, pero en 1997 cinco agentes policiales retirados confesaron haberlo asesinado.
